No One Out-Executes Us: Okta Named a Leader in Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for Access Management, Worldwide 2018

This week, Gartner released its second Magic Quadrant for Access Management, Worldwide, and Okta was once again named a Leader. We placed highest in “ability to execute” in the report, a recognition we also held last year. We’re proud of this achievement and we view it as a testament to our commitment to our customers’ success and our innovation in Access Management. You can read the details in the full report here.

Gartner Magic Quadrant Access Management 2018

Connecting Cloud-to-Ground
Looking at our fellow Leaders, our cloud-native origin makes us stand out, and we view that as a key differentiator. From the day we started the company, we built Okta as a cloud-based service. You can't take an on-premises piece of identity management software, put it in the cloud and get the Okta Identity Cloud.

Our architecture uniquely positions us to tackle the full cloud-to-ground access needs of our customers — whether they’re securing connections to legacy systems or harnessing the proliferation of SaaS applications in their enterprise to keep their employees engagement and productive with the latest tools.

To credibly claim that you connect to everything, which should be the ultimate goal of all access management providers, you need to have a cloud architecture. And the Okta Identity Cloud provides organizations with a single, integrated service to securely manage all of the technologies they use.

The Power of the Network
The most compelling benefits of an identity service that’s entirely born and built in the cloud are the network effects that can be delivered back to every organization, person and technology that’s part of the network. These network effects accelerate an organization's ability to modernize its IT infrastructure, enhance its security posture, and discover and implement new technologies to provide the best possible experiences for its employees, partners and customers.

The Okta Integration Network (OIN) boasts the industry’s broadest and deepest catalogue of connectors with over 5,500 pre-built integrations, including 1000+ SAML-enabled apps and 140 with automated provisioning. Through the OIN, the Okta Identity Cloud offers customers the unparalleled power and insight of the billions of authentications happening within Okta’s ecosystem. And by serving as the independent and neutral identity layer of an organization’s technology stack, our customers can depend on Okta to securely connect them to any technology that will help them achieve their missions.

Innovating with the Customer in Mind
We had the chance to see the strength of our network in person last month at our annual customer conference Oktane18, where we were joined by thousands of our customers and over 60 partners.

At the show, we announced ThreatInsight, which will leverage the power of our network and a new set of contextual access management features to enable organizations to replace passwords with stronger authentication for employees, partners and customers. Because we want to make it even easier for our network to connect, we’ve combined the familiar user experience of social authentication with the rigid requirements of enterprise-grade security to offer a seamless and secure business authentication experience through Sign In with Okta. And with Project Onramp, IT admins can find, test, set up and give workers access to critical apps with one click from the Okta dashboard. Finally, we deepened our partnerships with VMware (watch the video) and Workplace by Facebook (watch the video) to serve the needs of our joint customers.

We’re incredibly proud of Gartner’s recognition, which we know wouldn’t be possible without our customers — the most innovative and forward-thinking organizations in the world. We understand the deep trust you place in our hands when your choose Okta to connect your people to the technology they need, and we appreciate your continued support.
