One Platform, Every Use Case: Okta Scores Highest Across All Three Use Cases in Gartner 2019 Critical Capabilities for Access Management

When I joined Okta, I knew that identity continues to play an increasingly important role in our modern digital lives, especially as identity is the foundation for enabling secure, seamless experiences. I am proud to announce that Okta has scored the highest across all three use cases in the Gartner Critical Capabilities for Access Management report. Check out the full, October 2019, report here.

The Gartner Critical Capabilities research methodology is an extension of their Magic Quadrant report and evaluates the same 14 access management vendors across three identified use cases. Okta scored highest across all three:

  • 4.14 for “Workforce Users Accessing SaaS”
  • 3.98 for “Business to Consumer (B2C)”
  • 4.01 for “Business to Business (B2B)”

We believe that this analyst recognition adds to Okta’s continued validation of our positioning as a leader in identity. Earlier this year, Gartner published the Magic Quadrant for Access Management (2019) report, where Okta was named a Leader. We also placed highest for both ability to execute and completeness of vision of the fourteen vendors who were evaluated.

The Power of the platform

Over the last few years, organizations have increasingly asked for a single solution to address their identity needs, regardless of user type and whether a user is accessing applications, APIs or infrastructure. This has become especially important as access management requirements have become more similar across workforce and customer identity, and as organizations look to gain a single pane of glass on who has access to what. According to Gartner analyst Mary Ruddy “[O]rganizations with B2B customer users increasingly are looking to IAM tools that support both B2B and B2C users in a single offering.” Born and built in the cloud, Okta is the only independent, neutral identity platform that centralizes access across workforce, customer, and partner scenarios.

We’re seeing customers such as Cengage, the largest U.S.-based provider of teaching and learning materials for higher education, implement the Okta Identity Cloud to connect its global workforce to best-of-breed cloud applications and extended its user base (millions of students, instructors, and administrators) to securely access its online learning tools and resources.

Focused on customer success

We’re also excited to share that, for the second year in a row, Okta has been named a Customers’ Choice vendor for Access Management on Gartner Peer Insights. This is an especially unique recognition as it was entirely determined by the solution reviews of our customers. No matter the use case, we remain laser-focused on ensuring their success on every step of their identity journey.
