Lab Environment Manager

The Lab Environment Manager works independently to build, manage, and maintain on-demand technical lab environments used by the Customer First teams that train, support, and implement Okta solutions.   Okta seamlessly connects people to the cloud & on premise technologies that they rely on every day, on any device. Okta training labs currently serve 5000+ students per year and our vision is to use scripting to fully automate the setup and refresh of all applications and systems so that labs are truly available ‘on-demand’.  In addition to supporting Okta training classes, Okta Labs will be marketed and sold as a stand-alone enablement resource and will be used to facilitate performance-based certification exam testing.  Integration of Okta Labs with our Learning Management System is also central to our strategy.

The role will maintain a repository of self-contained, virtual environments to accelerate a range of integration use cases with directories like LDAP and Microsoft Active Directory, with leading business applications like Salesforce, G-Suite and Office 365, and with collaboration solutions like Box and SharePoint. Labs may include the use of virtual multi-server/workstation configurations and mobile iOS and Android devices.

The Lab Environment Manager makes effective use of virtualization technologies and will be skilled at executing on technically designed solutions with minimal supervision as well as providing program governance and leadership.  Managing outside vendor relationships and the budgeting process are required.  The successful candidate will partner well with internal teams, especially key curriculum development and instructor team stakeholders who rely on scalable lab design and operations to do their job.

This is a highly technical role suited for a self-starter who has the development/coding chops to build cool things and the leadership skills to manage an emerging line of business.   Prior experience managing cloud-based education services lab environments is highly desirable, although not required.
