The Team

The Okta Workflows Services team’s mission is to help internal and external builders and developers integrate third party services with the Okta product suite. We do this by handling integration submissions from both internal and external developers – reviewing, testing, and publishing them. We also build and maintain best-in-class platform and tooling for internal developers to build, test, and deploy their Okta Integration Network (OIN) apps, workflow connectors, and action implementations.

The OIN allows Independent Software Vendors (ISVs), such as Google Workspace, Workday, Salesforce, Box, Slack, GitHub, and Atlassian, to integrate deeply with Okta that enterprises then use to give their workforce seamless access to the technology they need.

Okta Workflows is a no-code platform for the automation of business processes, including user provisioning lifecycle management, using a library of integrated third-party applications and functions. By harnessing the power of the cloud, Okta allows people to quickly integrate different services, while still enforcing strong security policies. They integrate directly with an organization’s existing services such as directories and identity systems, as well as many other applications.

Position Description:

We are looking for an Application Analyst to expand the OIN using Okta's Workflow Automation and Integration Development Platform.

Application Analysts at Okta will use Okta Workflows and its API integrations to build components which are made available to our customers. These customers can then use these components to create their own mission critical business workflows for thousands of users in production.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to work with ISVs, developers, product managers, and external integrators. This role requires a unique combination of skills including the ability to design an elegant user experience that enables customers to build intuitive, reliable, secure and resilient business workflows.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Review 3rd party integrations and provide design recommendations for visual integration components in the context of business use cases. Ensure that these adhere to Okta’s best practices, are secure, scalable, and resilient.
  • Become an SME for Okta’s top Workflow Connectors; proactively track ISV API changes to identify impactful changes and take it up with the appropriate development team for prioritization.
  • Contribute to the software deployment process for Workflow Connectors: deploy connector changes using in-house tools, run Post-Deployment Verifications (PDVs) to ensure connector health, and monitor logs to identify customer issues.
  • Implement continuous testing, PDVs, and synthetic tests to monitor mission critical 3rd party integrations, metrics, alerting, and logging.
  • Collaborate with technical writers to create and improve our customer-facing and developer-facing documentation.

Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities:

  • 1+ year of API integration experience (REST/SOAP/GraphQL), calling product APIs.
  • Basic understanding of software engineering principles and design patterns (i.e. data structures, algorithms, and component design).
  • Demonstrated ability to review third-party API documentation to determine the feasibility of implementing different types of integration patterns.
  • Basic understanding of server side programming principles (HTTP, Authentication & Authorization).
  • Fundamental knowledge of factors affecting API security such as CSRF attacks
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Ability to look beyond the surface and be sensitive to underlying problems.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment. Not afraid of reaching out for help as needed.
  • Well-organized, methodical, and documentation & detail focused.
  • Curiosity and enthusiasm for continuous learning.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with quality assurance and testing/monitoring of code/services
  • User interface design (i.e. HTML and CSS).
  • 1+ year of coding experience (i.e. JavaScript, Python, Java, or C#).
  • Knowledge of authentication and authorization protocols and frameworks (i.e. OAuth, OIDC).
  • Knowledge of secure authentication concepts such as SSO, federated identity management, multi-factor authentication and digital certificates.
  • An understanding of the software development lifecycle.
  • Prior experience developing reusable software components that other developers and business users will leverage.
