IAM Pulse is the inaugural team within the OktaX incubator program, laser focused on making cloud infrastructure security simple and accessible for the practitioners who interface with it. With such a grand vision, we’re looking to assemble an amazing team of strategic go-getters with a relentless focus on execution. 

As a Cloud Security Researcher, you will perform in-depth technical analysis of IAM related scenarios across Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and Microsoft Azure, documenting and presenting in consumable formats fit for our community & customer audience, as well as our internal product & engineering team. Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Use your understanding of each provider's IAM specifications, and how policies are applied and evaluated in practice to inform our community, product and team's efforts
  • Document and explain key areas of interest for technical practitioners on the job – focus on security, resilience, availability, performance, and cost
  • Build and deploy tools that inspect or automate IAM functions across the major providers – contribute open source software where applicable
  • Collaborate with our core product & engineering team to highlight common scenarios and critical vulnerabilities for us to focus our solutions on
  • Contribute technical content, written or presented, on our community site and other external publications & channels
  • Maintain an ongoing pulse of news, documentation, and product developments from the major cloud providers and the surrounding cloud ecosystem

 

Expected Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proven experience working hands-on in a security and/or operational role across AWS, GCP, or Azure
  • Fundamental understanding of IAM services, and the entities & relationships they represent
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, CLIs, and cloud APIs
  • Excellent writing and communication skills, and the ability to prepare and present highly technical demos

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced certifications in any one or more of the major cloud providers
  • Published security research and/or open source projects
