Software Engineer, Analytics Infrastructure (Staff or Principal)

Title: Software Engineer, Analytics Infrastructure
Level: Staff or Principal

We are looking for an experienced Software Engineer to join our Analytics team who is passionate about scaling high volume, distributed and low-latency data ingestion and search services.  As a member of the Analytics Infrastructure team, you will be responsible for designing, building, and deploying the services and systems that power our core analytics infrastructure. Our analytics infrastructure stack sits on top of many modern technologies, including Kinesis, Storm, DynamoDB, and Elasticsearch.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Implement and evolve a data ingestion and search system with low latency and high throughput for bulk data ingestion and query
  • Work with engineering teams and architects on the development of projects, design, and implementation
  • Drive evaluation, development and roll out of new data collection and storage components
  • Drive initiatives to make data ingestion and storage components scale as usage increases
  • Conduct and participate in code reviews, analysis, and performance tuning
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers
  • Implement unit, functional and performance tests
  • Collaborate with cross-functionally with QA, Product Owners, Engineering Services and Tech Ops 

Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • 10+ years of experience in object-oriented language, preferably Java and knowledge of Spring
  • Hands-on experience using a cloud-based distributed computing (Spark/Storm, and Elasticsearch)
  • Real time data ingestion (Kafka/Kinesis)
  • Experience in developing and tuning highly scalable system
  • Excellent grasp of software engineering principle
  • In-depth understanding of multithreading, garbage collection and memory management
  • Knowledge of network security, authentication, and authorization is a plus

 Education and Training:

  • Bachelor’s Degree majoring in computer science
