Staff Full Stack Developer

We are looking for an experienced Staff Customer Centric Developer (Full Stack)  who will join a new elite team that focuses on Customer Centric Engineering. Customer Centric Engineering (CCE) Team consists of high performing Customer Centric Engineers who bring unwavering focus on customer success within engineering. The team ensures customer success by troubleshooting, debugging, and proposing fixes to the most complex customer issues escalated by our last tier of Technical Support. You will be the first developer in the team who will identify and implement internal frameworks and tooling for debugging issues in close partnership with the product teams and architects. This will give you a chance to champion, influence and pave the way for customer first thinking as we design various product features.

You will also drive cross-functional response to critical technical incidents, acting as quarterback and customer advocate within R&D, and represent the Technology organization to customers and our Support organization. This role requires the abilities of both Software Engineer and Tier 3 Customer Support to act as an effective interlink and be able to understand the overall Okta infrastructure. Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design, review and develop new debugging tools/frameworks while working closely with product teams
  • Identify root causes, troubleshoot critical issues and propose technical and process improvements
  • Analyze and refine supportability requirements with Product Management
  • Work with engineering management to scope and plan engineering efforts
  • Collaborate with other Developers, Architects, QA, Product Management, Technical Support
  • Interact with customers to understand their issues, pain points and be able reproduce the issue in house 
  • Participate in after-hours on-call rotation for critical customer escalations

 Minimum REQUIRED Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • 5+ years of full stack software development experience building highly reliable, mission-critical software 
  • Partner with Customer Centric team to build and enhance tooling (experience dealing with support would be ideal)
  • Technical chops along with a strong desire to interact with customers, support engineers and management on high-profile issues 
  • Experience with Java, Hibernate, Spring
  • Experience with Javascript and a major Javascript MVC framework such as Backbone, Angular, or React
  • Working experience with HTML and CSS including how to work around browser quirks
  • Experience in RESTful API design
  • Solid grasp of software engineering principles and practices, including testing methodologies 
  • Experience working with a system of scale

Education and Training:

  • Bachelor's Degree majoring in computer science or equivalent
