Strategic Sourcing Manager

Okta is looking for an experienced G&A Strategic Sourcing Manager to join our energetic Strategic Sourcing team and be part of and support Okta’s continued growth. You will have an opportunity to directly lead a team of 1-2 Sourcing Analysts and work with offshore procurement resources (as needed). You will lead the Sourcing initiatives for our G&A organization (Finance, Legal, Outsourcing Ops/Shared Services, Professional Services, Product, Tax etc.). To be successful in this role, you will have a consistent history of developing and implementing category sourcing strategies and taking a leadership role in advising on the service and technology aspects of G&A categories for Okta’s global locations. You will be expected to run RFx (RFI/RFP) and make recommendations for supplier selection.   You will lead end-to-end Strategic Sourcing projects supporting multiple stakeholders. You will be expected to build relationships with internal business partners working with cross-functional groups to support negotiations, risk mitigation and supplier management. You will perform complex work assignments and problem resolutions with minimal direct supervision. You will collaborate with senior level representatives from the business and should be able to advise on viable and efficient Sourcing and Procurement processes. This position will be remote. You will report to the Sr. Director of Strategic Sourcing & Procurement.   Responsibilities:  
  • Build effective, strategic relationships with the business units/stakeholders, suppliers, and crossfunctional teams
  • Liaise between the business units, suppliers, and Okta’s Legal and Security departments to ensure compliance with requirements and standard contract terms
  • Actively develop sourcing strategies in support of business initiatives
  • Lead and support all aspects of the strategic sourcing process, including RFx, vendor evaluations, and day-to-day commercial contract negotiations
  • Help identify areas of risk for the business (i.e., delivery of service, quality, performance, timeline, warranty, governance); make recommendations where applicable
  • Drive supplier performance review meetings with key suppliers and provide input on performance and future needs/strategic planning
  • Measure supplier performance against contract Service Level Agreements and expectations, manage any remediation as required
  • Use experience and industry expertise to find opportunities to optimize cost, improve service and other efficiency opportunities
  • Conduct spend analytics to identify areas of opportunity for streamlining and consolidation of spend
  • Provide input for areas of opportunity and make recommendations where applicable for projects, departments, or across the company for operational improvements and efficiencies
  • Drive M&A activity from Strategic Sourcing’s perspective, i.e. contract novation and consolidation
  • Communicate proactively with internal and external partners
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience including Strategic Sourcing, negotiation, and contract development and execution
  • Sourcing category expertise including HR, Facilities, and G&A
  • Experience working in SCOUT/Workday Strategic Sourcing, COUPA, Ironclad is a plus
  • Experience in financial analysis to ensure that negotiated agreements provide the best possible returns for Okta
  • Experience prioritizing and leading multiple projects at the same time, negotiating successfully while maintaining the relationship, and collaborating effectively with people at all skill and organizational levels, internally and externally
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and risk assessment skills; proficiency in MS Office suite (Excel, PowerPoint etc.)
  • Experience with developing and evaluating Statements of Work, risk analysis, contracts, and market research
  • Experience working in M&A environment and leading contract novation and consolidation efforts
  • Ability to summarize complex business issues and evaluate opportunities for improved functionality, cost savings and SLAs
  • Highly effective people skills necessary to address executive level internal and external communications
  • Excellent verbal, presentation, and written skills
  • Comprehensive understanding of contractual terms and the ability to write and negotiate contracts
  • Experience planning and leading negotiations
