Creative Director, Campaigns

Role Overview


Okta is looking for a Creative Director to help bring our campaigns to life through compelling marketing and advertising . You will solve problems through engaging storytelling focused on our brand promise and products. You will collaborate across teams and departments to create advertisements that will leave a lasting impression on prospects and customers. You will work between the product team, marketing team, and our agencies to evangelize the Okta story from concept through execution. 


This is a unique role for an inspiring creative that has the experience, ability and drive to manage multiple projects and work seamlessly with cross-functional teams across the company. This role requires a strong background in advertising and marketing of technology products. This role reports directly to the Executive Creative Director.



Job Duties & Responsibilities


  • A seasoned storyteller who can evangelize the Okta voice and tone bringing our core values to life through compelling storytelling and marketing
  • A master of craft who will push the boundaries of copy across a variety of mediums and disciplines including video, web, social, long-form content, print, podcasts, and more
  • Leverage Okta brand standards and global guidelines to drive the promise of our brand in aspects of the marketing funnel
  • Work closely with our marketing and sales teams to find and bring to life our most powerful customer success stories
  • Must be a self starter while being comfortable guiding teams, freelancers, agencies, and production partners
  • Help drive a culture of data-driven creativity that supports our team to do the most impactful and best work of their careers
  • Will create, concept, inspire others and roll up your sleeves
  • You have an advanced perspective of all dimensions of business strategy inside advertising, with the ability to translate complex technology concepts into innovative marketing experiences
  • Can deliver direct and inspired feedback across all elements of our marketing touch points
  • A collaborator and thought leader who is inspired by innovation and breakthrough thinking, challenges the conventional, and fosters new, bold content ideas
  • An effective communicator who can convey and execute on their own creative vision, and can help communicate the experience of our customers
  • The ideal candidate will have an established track record of leading breakthrough storytelling as a creative director in an agency and/or in an in-house creative team


Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • BA or BFA in English, Creative Writing or related discipline
  • World-class portfolio of work demonstrating your innovative work across multiple channels, including long-form and short-form content
  • Outstanding presentation skills and proven ability to produce and pitch world-class strategic presentations to all levels of an organization
  • 7+ years experience in Copywriting; strong verbal and written communication skills
  • 7+ years of industry or related creative experience combining strategy, content, and messaging with creative deliverables
  • 7+ years experience leading and managing a team in a creative agency or internal creative group; global experience is a plus
  • Hands-on expertise in developing creative concepts
  • Expert knowledge of creative process and all digital creative software tools

((Colorado, New York and Washington only*) Minimum OTE of $178,000/year + equity + benefits))
