Lifecycle Marketing Manager

Team/Role Description: Okta’s Lifecycle and Database Marketing team plays a critical role in accelerating Okta’s growth via strategic buyer journey design; targeted persona segmentation, acquisition, and activation; and prospect and customer nurtures. The LCM/DBM team sits underneath the Demand Generation umbrella and is responsible for the end-to-end planning and execution of how we acquire, activate, nurture, guide, and cultivate real-world humans through their journey with Okta and our Identity Platform. Ultimately, our focus is on maximizing investments throughout the full buying journey to fuel Okta’s global growth.

As a Lifecycle Marketing Manager, you will be responsible for planning and executing successful journeys for our buyers, champions, and influencers in close collaboration with functional leaders from marketing, to sales development, product marketing, corporate marketing, and beyond! In this capacity, you will work with the team to define our prospect and customer lifecycle stages (account and human stages), create milestones to show funnel progression, create messaging to align journeys to these lifecycle stages, curate assets for these campaigns, and launch them into the world! The LCM/DBM team is a strategic priority for Okta and was formed only two years ago—this is your chance to get in early and help shape the future of our lifecycle marketing organization!

The ideal candidate will have prior experience as an integrated campaigns or lifecycle marketer and is ready to take on a more strategic role as a manager to help create the vision in addition to execution. They will be able to own multiple cross-functional relationships (this role is cross-functional by nature), create program/project plans, track and mitigate risks, and be proactive in communicating out-and-up against our goals for the year. The ideal candidate will join a highly performant team and the bar will be set quite high for quality of work, quality of fun, and quality of willingness to take risks!

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Define the stages of the buying lifecycle at Okta (from prospect to customer and beyond) and map our current go-to-market motions to the stages with milestones and full definitions at the account and human level
  • Execute on our lifecycle marketing strategy by designing journeys and facilitating program execution
  • Leverage known, and to-be-known, engagement capabilities to reach our audience and create experiences that engage our buyers, champions, and influencers
  • Cultivate relationships across sales, sales development, and product marketing to help drive our cold activation programs for high-value targets and personas
  • Collaborate with our prospect and customer campaign teams—alongside marketing operations—to curate existing assets that align to our new buyer journeys and examine closely our persona and segmentation performance
  • Closely monitor your programs and boundary programs to ensure that we are all one-team marching towards a better future and be ready to pivot when needed
  • Be ready to examine your work carefully with data and be ready to support your decisions when the data and anecdotes differ (or when they are similar!)

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Prior experience building successful multi-channel and integrated enterprise campaigns
  • Prior experience working with sales or sales development teams to craft localized messaging a plus
  • 6+ years of overall industry experience; 4+ years of closely related experience
  • Bachelor’s degree; advanced degree in a business, marketing or technical field preferred
  • Strong leadership skills and executive presence to manage multiple stakeholders and programs at all levels of the organization
  • Proficiency with Excel, advanced marketing and reporting tools, and data sets
  • Strong Salesforce administration skills in specialized campaign management, campaign member uploads, campaign scoring, and lead scoring models
  • Strong data and analytical skills — using and interpreting data and analytics to quantify and improve marketing results
  • Strong project management skills with an ability to create, execute, and adjust plans as needed
  • A desire to have fun, work hard, and drive results for yourself and others
