This is a leadership position in the Zero Trust and Security product team. As the Director of PM for Authentication, you will own Okta’s strategy and execution for the authentication roadmap. This includes driving strategy for passwordless authentication, secure and strong, multifactor authentication, recovery and enrollment, mobile authentication experience, and 3rd party integrations.
Authentication is a dynamic and rapidly evolving field. Credential based attacks are on the rise and keeping data and accounts secure online has never been more important as users move more data to the cloud. As the team lead, you will set the vision for how users can securely authenticate, enroll credentials, and recover their accounts. You will lead a team of product managers to ensure that customers are not only secure when using Okta, but also have the absolute best user experience. You will also drive the strategy and thinking for areas of authentication such as passwordless and multifactor authentication. Through this role, you will deeply understand the ecosystem of authentication technologies, different open standards for authenticating (such as FIDO and WebAuthentication), and common attacks used against authentication systems and credentials. Your goal will be to drive a world class experience for authentication using Okta and to grow our MFA business.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Define product strategy and roadmap for authentication
- Manage and develop a team of Product Managers
- Collaborate closely with Architects, Engineers and Design to define usable and scalable solutions
- Stay abreast of competitive multi-factor authentication solutions
- Closely follow trends in authentication technologies and open standards such as FIDO and WebAuthN
- Track market trends and dynamics to inform product decisions and strategy
- Collaborate with product marketing to align product and go-to-market strategies
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- You have a strong technical background that allows you to influence technical design and investment decisions
- You can see the big picture, but deliver on the details
- You can produce solid action plans from often incomplete, conflicting or ambiguous inputs
- You can think deeply about hard problems
- You have managed people and operate effectively as a player-coach
- Excellent communication skills across both technical and business audiences
- Strong leadership skills and executive presence
- 8+ years of industry experience. 5+ years of product management or related experience
- Bachelor’s degree
- Experience with authentication products
- Knowledge of authentication standards and protocols such as WebAuthN, U2F, FIDO, TOTP, HOTP
- Experience in user experience and/or mobile
- Basic knowledge of public / private key cryptography used for authentication
- Advanced degree in technical or business field
