Creative Director

Position Description:

Okta is building an in-house Brand Design team! This is a unique opportunity – the Creative Director will be building a world-class team of designers and refreshing Okta’s brand with the support of an agency. The Creative Director role will be creating and leading brand experiences – striving for elegant, intentional and modern visuals for Okta. The role requires strong design system thinking, organizational skills and an eye for detail. Extensive understanding in overseeing the implementation of brand and marketing assets with accuracy, consistency and high levels of quality is required. Being able to manage work streams that guarantees on time delivery and a clear work flow is critical. The role also requires strong strategic thinking that will allow for quick problem solving and prioritization in a fast-pace environment. Due to the highly collaborative nature of this role and given the management requirements, strong interpersonal skills and team-based experience is required.

What you’ll do:

  • Oversee the design and implementation of brand expressions across all mediums – events, ads, presentation & storytelling, web, mobile, interactive, OOH, video, collateral, etc. Delivering high-quality experiences that are intentional, beautiful, and support Okta’s brand strategy.
  • Provide inspiring creative leadership: mentor, coach and grow a team of visual and brand designers.
  • Collaborate with Head of Creative, VP of Design and across Okta’s marketing teams to build strong partnerships and trust.
  • Envision and implement a cohesive visual style for all brand experiences, working closely with the Head of Creative.
  • Manage the prioritization and assignment of all creative requests, in close collaboration with our Sr. Project Manager.
  • Evangelize learnings from partnerships and teams to continually improve the quality and efficiencies of our work.
  • Protect the integrity of the brand, while encouraging creative exploration and risk-taking.
  • Evolve style guides, usage and processes necessary to deliver consistent brand experiences.
  • Design with purpose and effectively communicate rationale behind user-centric design choices.

Who you are:

  • 12+ years of experience with at least 5 years of experience leading creative teams (in-house team or creative agency).
  • Proven leadership skills with strong coaching abilities along with the ability to attract world-class creative talent.
  • Experienced in developing and evolving brand and marketing design systems.
  • Excellent communicator and collaborator with a high EQ and a sense of humor.
  • Skilled in coordinating, directing, and guiding the work of other designers.
  • Experienced in collaborating closely across different teams.
  • Developed inspiring creative for B2B and consumer brands.

Minimum Qualification:

  • Degree in graphic design, visual design or relevant design degree.
  • Broad experience across brand and visual design for web, events, campaigns, digital marketing, presentations, collateral, corporate communications, etc.
  • Extensive knowledge of design principles for branding and marketing with demonstrable knowledge of UI design, information hierarchy and typography.
  • Executive presence to convey brand visuals and storytelling to a technical audience.
  • Fluency in Adobe CC, Figma and HTML/CSS.
  • Bias for action.
