Okta Certification Program Wins CEdMA's 2017 Innovation Award

Kpayah Tamba, October 12, 2017

On Wednesday, October 4, 2017, the Computer Education Management Association (CEdMA) awarded Okta Certification Program with the 2017 Innovation Award. CEdMA is the premier professional networking organization for training executives and managers in the hardware and software technology sectors and is comprised of over 90 technology companies.

Once a year, CEdMA honors a CEdMA member company with the Innovation Award for employing innovative thinking to solve a problem or seize an opportunity. The award recognizes creativity, novelty, and leadership among the CEdMA membership. The award is given to one high-tech company or individual for outstanding innovation in education business methods or practices on a project completed within the last 12 months. As a result of trailblazing new paths, in style and in record time, Okta was selected winner of this year's innovation award.

From concept to reality, the Okta Education Services team built a world-class certification program the Okta way:

  • Born + built in the cloud: As Okta was born in the cloud, so was the Okta certification program. We established a program, including a testing solution, entirely in the cloud -- no on-premises servers or onsite testing centers. From the convenience of homes and offices, IT professionals can take Okta certification exams at any time and from anywhere.

  • Security-first: We designed and built our certification exams with security in mind, and we deliver them in the most secure way possible. Every exam session is monitored live by a human proctor, and each session is recorded and audited by a security team for test aberrance.

  • Low operating costs: We have leveraged technologies to keep our operating costs low. As a result, we are passing on those savings to our certification candidates.

  • Exams that work: Our test delivery partner proctors our certification exams remotely, and our exams consist of Discrete Option Multiple-Choice (DOMC) questions. The combination of remote proctoring and DOMC improve the accessibility, availability, and security of our certification exams. DOMC allows us to reduce item question and answer exposure. Reducing exposure results in a more secure exam. Removing vulnerabilities inherent in multiple-choice, such as the elimination or ‘best-guess’ techniques, makes DOMC a more reliable measure of a certification candidate’s skill.

Because we build and deliver our exams securely, our certifications are valued by our credential holders, trusted by employers, and recognized by training and certification leaders across the globe. CEdMA's recognition of our program as a leading cutting-edge program is an example of the respect we have amassed in 14 months since we launched our certifications and what's to come in the future. But, don't take my word for it, join the OktaSmart Certification Challenge right now and get certified. Earn an Okta certification by January 31 to win a prize and give your employer the opportunity to enter the customer or partner sweepstakes for the grand prize, which includes an Oktane18 pass, pre-conference training, and a complimentary hotel stay at The Aria during Oktane.

We are honored to be recognized for building a 21st-century credentialing program for IT professionals in the Identity as a Service (IDaaS) space. We are also happy to share this award with everyone who holds an Okta certification. Being Okta certified is a manifestation of your dedication to your craft, your organization, your internal or external customers, and to the overall IT profession. When we win, you win too.
