In the heart of downtown San Francisco lies Okta’s headquarters. Okta occupies multiple floors of the building at 100 1st St., across from the Salesforce Tower. At one of the city’s busiest intersections, there’s always something to explore.
If you’re considering an internship or full-time role at Okta’s San Francisco headquarters, I’ve put together a guide to my favorite floors to work on, the best office snacks, top amenities, and even some great restaurants nearby.

My favorite floors to work on
One of the best things about Okta’s offices is that you’re not tied to a single desk. Thanks to the open seating floor plan, you can experience working from all over the office. While there are many floors to choose from, a couple stand out as favorites for interns, each with its own twist. Most of us have carved out a little corner on one of these popular floors. Laughter often fills the halls as we collaborate and proudly share our projects from the summer.
These floors also have plenty of conference rooms for calls — and of course, balance boards. You might think it’s hard to work while wobbling, but it’s a skill most interns perfect by the end of summer. In fact, a few friendly balance board competitions have even been known to break out.

My personal favorite is the most lively, colorful, and fun floor of all. Designed as an ode to the city, each space captures a different San Francisco landmark. Start your day with a coffee from the Golden Gate Café and a warm hello from our wonderful barista. Then head to a meeting in the “Oktatorium” or wander through the winding “Lombard Street” hallway. And before you leave, you can’t miss a quick round of mini golf on our very own five-hole course.

Best office snacks
Office days always call for good snacks to keep us fueled up. I asked some of my fellow interns from the 2025 class to share their favorites and the results were clear. Protein-packed options topped the list, with yogurt cups and trail mix taking the number one spot. Close behind were the ever-popular “Nutella-to-Go” snack packs, followed by a sweet favorite: chocolate-covered almonds.

Amenities you definitely want to use
Coming into the office is always a highlight; it’s full of amenities that make work easier and more enjoyable. From standing desks to extra monitors and ergonomic keyboards, everything is designed to support how we work best. When I asked some of our SF interns about their favorite amenities, these topped the list:
- Standing desks
- Meeting rooms
- Extra monitors
- Gym
- Balance boards
I couldn’t agree more. My personal favorite is the standing desk — it’s the perfect way to stay productive while stretching out your legs.

Go-to barista order
Whether you’re a coffee lover or not, the office has a drink for everyone. And if you’re looking for a caffeine boost, our HQ barista has you covered with all the classics (and a few surprises). Intern favorites included iced vanilla lattes, lavender lattes, and iced Americanos. For something lighter, the matcha latte comes highly recommended!

Honorable mentions
I can’t possibly cover every amazing perk of our San Francisco office, but here are a couple of honorable mentions you don’t want to miss.
First up: free office lunches on Wednesdays and Thursdays. The options are always delicious, from Mediterranean to South Asian to Mexican cuisine.
And of course, the hidden speakeasy, a favorite among interns. With games, drinks, and a relaxed vibe, it’s the perfect spot to unwind after a busy day at work.
