IMPORTANT NOTICE: The drop-down summaries are provided for convenience only and are not legally binding. Your use of this Site is legally governed by the formal text.

I. Acceptance & Changes

These Terms govern your use of Okta, Inc. websites (the “Site”). By accessing or using the Site, you agree to be bound by these Terms. Okta reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time without prior notice. Continued use of the Site after the “Last Updated Date” constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms. Separate agreements govern Okta’s enterprise products, services, and free trials (available at okta.com/agreements). Your use of the Site is also governed by our Privacy Policy

Hey there! Welcome to our website. By sticking around, browsing, or downloading stuff here, you’re agreeing to these rules.

We can change these rules whenever we want without giving you a heads-up. If you use the Site after we update them, you're agreeing to the new rules. If you're looking for our actual software/enterprise product agreements, those live over at okta.com/agreements.

II. Intellectual Property

All Site content, including text, logos, graphics, software, and media, is the exclusive property of Okta or its licensors and is protected by US and international IP and copyright laws. No rights are granted to you unless expressly stated. Okta’s trademarks and trade dress may not be used without prior written permission. All other third-party trademarks belong to their respective owners.

Everything you see here, the code, logos, designs, text, and videos, belongs to Okta or the people who licensed it to us. It’s all protected by copyright laws.

Please don't use our logo or brand assets without asking us in writing first.

III. Permitted & Prohibited Use

You agree to use the Site legally and responsibly. You are solely liable for any breach of these Terms. You are strictly prohibited from:

  • • Accessing the Site via automated means (crawlers, scripts) or unauthorized accounts.
  • Disrupting or interfering with servers, networks, or other users.
  • Scraping, copying, reselling, or duplicating Site content without written permission.
  • Diverting Okta customers, sending spam, or transmitting malicious code/malware.
  • Reverse engineering, decompiling, or probing the Site.
  • Impersonating others or providing false details.

Play nice and follow the law. Specifically, do not:

  • Use bots, scrapers, or scripts to harvest our data.
  • Try to break our Site, crash our servers, or mess with other users.
  • Steal our content to resell it or try to poach our customers.
  • Spread malware, spam people, or use fake names and email addresses to trick us.
  • If you break it, you bought it; you are responsible for any damage you cause.

IV. User Accounts

Certain features require creating an account. You must be at least 18 years old and provide accurate, current info. You are entirely responsible for maintaining account confidentiality and for all activities under your account. You may not share your login. Okta reserves the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time, for any lawful reason, without notice. If managed by an employer, they may access or disable your account.

If you set up an account, you must be 18+ and tell the truth about who you are.

Your login is for your eyes only; don't share your password. If someone hacks you, tell us immediately because you're on the hook for whatever happens on your profile.

(P.S. If your boss sets up your account, they can see what you're doing and turn it off whenever they want).

V. Submissions & Feedback

By posting content, reviews, or materials (“Submissions”), you grant Okta an irrevocable, perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free, sublicensable license to use, reproduce, modify, and distribute your content in any media. You warrant that you own or control all rights to your Submissions and will indemnify Okta for related claims. Okta may monitor or remove content at its sole discretion.

Any feedback (suggestions, edits) you provide is non-confidential, gratuitous, and Okta may use it without restriction or compensation to you.

If you post a review, comment, or picture on our Site, you still own it, but you're giving us a permanent, free pass to use it, tweak it, and show it off anywhere in the world. Make sure you actually own the rights to whatever you post!

If you send us feature suggestions or feedback, we can use your ideas for free without paying you or keeping it a secret.

VI. External Links & Infringement

The Site may link to third-party websites for convenience. Okta does not control, endorse, or assume liability for third-party content; use them at your own risk. To report intellectual property or copyright infringement on our Site, follow our formal takedown procedures located here.

We might link to other websites, but we don't control them or officially stamp them with our approval. Click at your own risk.

If you see something on our Site that steals your copyrighted work, let us know via our reporting link and we'll handle it.

VII. Disclaimers & Limits of Liability

“AS IS” BASIS: TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE SITE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” OKTA DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE.

NO LIABILITY: OKTA SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, OR LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR USE, ARISING OUT OF YOUR USE OF THE SITE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF DAMAGES.

We build the best website we can, but we provide it “as is.” We don't promise it will always be online, completely glitch-free, or perfect for your specific needs.

If using this website causes your computer to crash, deletes your data, or makes your business lose money, Okta is not legally responsible to pay for it. Use it at your own risk.

VIII. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Okta, its officers, directors, and employees from any third-party claims, losses, damages, or expenses (including attorneys' fees) arising out of your violation of these Terms or your Submissions.

If you do something illegal on our Site, or post something that gets us sued by a third party, you have to cover our legal bills and financial losses

IX. Governing Law & Severability

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California. If any provision is found invalid or unenforceable by a court, that specific part will be severed, and the remaining terms will remain fully enforceable. Okta may block or terminate your access to the Site at its sole discretion, utilizing technical or legal measures.

If we end up in court, we’re playing by California rules.

If a judge decides one sentence in this contract is illegal, the rest of the contract still stands. We can ban you from the Site whenever we want if you break these rules.

X. Indemnification

To the fullest extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify, release, and hold harmless Okta and its directors, officers, employees, and contractors for any third party claims, demands, suits, proceedings, liabilities, losses, damages, judgements, fines, or costs and expenses (including, without limitation, reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of or relating to: (a) your violation or alleged violation of these Terms; or (b) your Submissions.

XI. Governing Law & Severability

These Terms and any dispute arising out of or related to these Terms shall be governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict of laws rules.
