Gartner Recognises Okta as an Identity Leader — 7 Years in a Row

Last week, Okta was named as a Leader in Gartner’s fourth edition of its Magic Quadrant for Access Management report. We are the only vendor that has consistently been a Leader since the inception of Gartner’s evaluation of the identity space — starting with the first Identity as a Service (IDaaS) Magic Quadrant seven years ago.

Over the years, industry analysts from firms around the world have referred to our space as “cloud user and access management,” “B2E cloud IAM,” “IDaaS,” and “access management.” Although our analysts’ terminology and perspectives have evolved, our recognition as a Leader has remained consistent: we’ve been at the forefront of evolving the industry with our platform, the Okta Identity Cloud. It's the only independent, cloud-first identity platform, and provides organisations with the flexibility and extensibility to address every identity use case. Regardless of our placement in the Quadrant, our customers consider us the gold standard for identity — and that’s due to this platform approach, our market-leading growth, and unwavering commitment to solving our customers' most complex identity challenges.

We’ve always put our customers front and centre, but this year, the team felt even more responsibility for our customers’ success. As COVID-19 spread, many companies shifted to remote work virtually overnight in early 2020 — accelerating their digital transformation efforts. As organisations like FedEx, Seton Hall, and Discovery Communications grappled with this new reality, Okta was a trusted partner, empowering our customers to quickly deploy the Okta Identity Cloud to connect their workforces and customers with essential technology.

Gartner also emphasised our popularity with our customers, calling out their positive experiences working with Okta. As Gartner notes in the Critical Capabilities companion report to the Magic Quadrant, Okta is “one of the most matured and advanced AM tools in the market to meet both internal and external user access management use case’s needs.” You can read the full report here.
