Red Flag 4: Independent verification. If an employee receives an urgent request from their manager asking for credentials or access, they shouldn’t click the link in the email. Instead, they can call their manager’s direct number from the company directory to verify. If someone calls claiming to be from IT requesting a password, an employee should hang up and call the known IT number.
