From thwarting deepfakes to corralling AI agents, a lot is happening in the security and identity space right now. And while artificial intelligence has rightfully earned top spot in many conversations, it is not the only identity shift reshaping organizations.

Okta and Accenture share a unique, frontline view of these transformations. While Okta delivers the identity infrastructure that connects people safely and secures AI workflows, Accenture provides the hands-on advisory and integration expertise needed to make change stick.

'The relationship that we have with Okta as industry leaders, and us from a delivery perspective, is really hammering home that message of "we can do more together"', says Adam Johnson, CIAM Lead for Accenture UK&I.

Zair Abbas, EMEA VP Partners at Okta, recently sat down with Johnson to look beyond the AI headlines and explore what else is happening out in the world.

Here are four shifts—beyond AI—Johnson sees happening on the ground:

The shift to centralized identity

Organizations are moving away from scattered, legacy systems toward centralized capabilities. More importantly, there is a major mindset shift happening: identity is no longer treated as a back-office utility, but as a key business enabler to improve customer experience.

A refreshed focus on Zero Trust

Zero Trust isn’t a high-level concept. Organizations are taking it seriously at an architectural level and actively embedding these security principles directly into their tech stacks.

Maintaining regulatory compliance (like PSD3)

With evolving regulations like PSD3 on the horizon, businesses cannot afford to overlook core compliance. As older standards like PSD2 fade into the background, organizations must stay rigorous and avoid slipping into bad habits.

Prioritizing frictionless customer experience (CX)

A customer's login flow is primarily an identity flow. Brands are realizing that providing a seamless, frictionless identity experience is essential to delivering a best-in-class customer journey.

AI may be grabbing the headlines, but these four shifts represent the foundational work required to operate securely in a modern landscape. Navigating them requires an independent identity solution that won't lock you in. Watch Zair Abbas and Adam Johnson in conversation as they dive deeper into these trends.
