2026 Global State of Authentication Survey: Perceptions vs. Reality — Gaps in Authentication Security

Sommaire

Security expertise alone isn't enough to protect your organization. Okta and Yubico surveyed nearly 2,000 cybersecurity and IT professionals across 9 countries — and the results are striking: even the most knowledgeable security pros are still logging in with usernames and passwords every day.

This landmark report uncovers the structural gap between what security teams know and what they actually do — and why closing it requires more than awareness training. Download the 2026 Global State of Authentication Survey to learn:

  • Why 43% of security professionals still rely on username and password as their primary work login method
  • How AI-driven phishing attacks are defeating the human firewall — and why 44% of organizations suffered at least one successful AI-driven breach in the past year
  • The rising threat of deepfakes, voice cloning, and non-human identities — and what it means for your authentication strategy
  • Why phishing-resistant, hardware-backed authentication is the only reliable safeguard in the age of generative AI
  • How to build a new security architecture that eliminates legacy defaults and protects every identity — human and machine
