As a Senior Software Engineer on the Access Requests team, you will be a key player in one of Okta's fastest-growing product lines. You will own medium to large features, working with a high degree of autonomy and a focus on delivering robust, high-performance solutions. You will be expected to not only write high-quality, full-stack JavaScript code but also to contribute to the overall health and culture of the team. This role is perfect for a hungry, collaborative engineer eager to make a significant impact on a product that is scaling rapidly.
This is a hybrid role based out of our San Francisco office. The role requires a candidate to be within a 50-mile radius of the office to allow for attendance on colaboration in-office days.
As an engineer on the Access Requests team, you will:
- Independently own medium or co-own large tactical features from technical design through to implementation and launch.
- Design and implement core, high-performance, and scalable software components using a full-stack JavaScript approach.
- Participate in all stages of the software development lifecycle, including test-driven development, code reviews, and production monitoring.
- Proactively collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders (PMs, designers, QA) to understand functional, non-functional, and business requirements.
- Troubleshoot complex issues, with an emphasis on using observability tools to prevent and resolve production problems.
- Contribute to team velocity by identifying and addressing tech debt, improving documentation, and enhancing support processes.
- Embody Okta's customer-focused culture by working with field and CSM teams to resolve customer issues.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- 5+ years of full-stack software development experience building highly-reliable, mission-critical software.
- Experience working with globally distributed large scale systems.
- Proficient in at least one or more programming languages including but not limited to JavaScript, Python, PHP, or Java.
- Familiarity with server-side technologies, including caching, asynchronous processing, and multi-threading.
- A proven ability to learn quickly and adapt to new technologies.
- Be federally eligible to support monitoring a burgeoning federal customer base.
Nice to Haves:
- Experience with Express and React.
- Experience with high-performance MongoDB environments.
- Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as Datadog or Splunk
- Exposure to microservice and events-based architecture.
- Experience with public cloud (GCP, AWS), docker containers, Kubernetes, Terraform, or CI/CD.

Below is the annual base salary range for candidates located in California. Your actual base salary will depend on factors such as your skills, qualifications, experience, and work location. In addition, Okta offers equity (where applicable), bonus, and benefits, including health, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), flexible spending account, and paid leave (including PTO and parental leave) in accordance with our applicable plans and policies. The annual base salary range for this position for candidates located in the San Francisco Bay area is between: $159,000—$239,000 USDWhat you can look forward to as a Full-Time Okta employee!
