Okta is seeking a technically astute and results-oriented Personalization Technical Product Owner to drive the engineering and implementation of our personalization capabilities across digital platforms. In this critical role, you will bridge the gap between strategic personalization goals and the technical execution required to bring them to life at scale. You will leverage your deep understanding of A/B testing methodologies, hands-on experience with personalization platforms like Adobe Target, Optimizely or Interaction Studio, and a strong grasp of the underlying technologies to ensure robust, scalable, and efficient personalization solutions. You will work closely with engineering teams, architects, data scientists, and product managers to define technical requirements, oversee integrations, and ensure the successful delivery of impactful personalized experiences.

Responsibilities:

  • Technical Strategy and Roadmap for Personalization: Define the technical vision and roadmap for enabling personalization capabilities, ensuring scalability, performance, and maintainability. Collaborate with engineering leadership to define architectural patterns and technology choices.
  • Deep Technical Understanding of Personalization Platforms: Possess expert-level technical knowledge of personalization platforms such as Adobe Target (or similar), including its APIs, data integration capabilities, and implementation best practices.
  • Lead Technical Implementation of A/B and Multivariate Testing: Work closely with engineering to design and implement robust A/B and multivariate testing frameworks, ensuring accurate data collection and analysis.
  • Data Integration and Infrastructure: Define and oversee the data pipelines and infrastructure required to feed relevant customer data into personalization platforms and downstream analytics systems. Collaborate with data engineering teams to ensure data quality and availability.
  • API Design and Integration: Define and manage APIs and integrations necessary for delivering personalized experiences across various digital touchpoints (e.g., web, mobile apps, email).
  • Collaboration with Engineering and Architecture: Serve as the primary technical point of contact for engineering teams building personalization features. Provide technical guidance, clarify requirements, and ensure alignment with architectural standards.
  • Troubleshooting and Optimization: Identify and resolve technical challenges related to personalization implementation and performance. Continuously optimize the personalization infrastructure for efficiency and scalability.
  • Technical Requirements and User Story Definition: Translate the personalization strategy and product requirements into detailed technical specifications and user stories with clear acceptance criteria for engineering teams.
  • Performance Monitoring and Scalability Planning: Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to the technical performance of personalization systems. Proactively plan for scalability and future growth.
  • Security and Compliance: Ensure that all personalization implementations adhere to security best practices, data privacy regulations, and company compliance standards.
  • Evangelize Technical Best Practices: Promote and enforce best practices for personalization implementation, testing, and monitoring within the engineering organization.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 5+ years of experience in a technical product owner, software engineering, or technical architect role, with a significant focus on personalization technologies.
  • Deep technical expertise with personalization platforms such as Adobe Target (required), including its architecture, APIs, and integration capabilities.
  • Strong understanding of data integration patterns, API design, and cloud-based infrastructure.
  • Proven experience in designing and implementing A/B and multivariate testing frameworks from a technical perspective.
  • Excellent understanding of data pipelines, data warehousing, and data governance principles.
  • Solid programming skills and familiarity with relevant technologies (e.g., JavaScript, APIs, cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Customer Data Platforms (CDPs) and their integration with personalization platforms.
