The Security team’s mission is to strengthen Okta’s position as the leading Identity-as-a-service solutions provider by identifying and resolving risks to employees, products, and, most importantly, our customers. With the ever-increasing pace of cloud application adoption, companies are struggling to find ways to accurately assess risk and act at the speed of their business


As the Sr Manager for Secure Development Enablement and Operations, you'll lead a team focusing on developer-centric programs and services, making sure we bring the appropriate training, tooling,  and support, to Okta developers.  


What you will be doing:

  • Lead a team of highly collaborative Security Engineers running Okta's Security Champions Program to deliver strategic guidance that will drive Secure Development Lifecycle (SDL) adherence
  • Lead initiatives to enable secure software development for Okta developers, including coordinating the development and periodic updates of training materials, implementation of developer centric security tools, early use and adoption of security verification tools –e.g., IDE plugins–, etc.
  • Plan, organize and execute the assignment of security training for different roles within the Okta organization, and produce appropriate tracking and reporting
  • Introduce, maintain and leverage, platforms that can assess security posture based on security control adoption (SDL) and risk assessment based on output of those security controls, to enable use cases of partner teams and to be the basis for improvement conversations with individual development teams.
  • Grow engineers’ skills, experience and confidence through regular 1:1s, coaching, actionable feedback, work and peer alignment, and career advocacy
  • Maintain and strengthen a team culture of growth, openness, trust, rigor, humility, mutual support, and psychological safety
  • Lead the process of recruiting great engineers to meet the growth plan for the team, in collaboration with our recruiters

You might be a good fit if you:

  • Demonstrated success as a lead/manager in a product security team, fostering highly-functional, healthy, inclusive and collaborative teams
  • Have experience in leading security education initiatives, including the production of content, including those produced for live sessions and for on-demand consumption
  • Have previous software development experience as a manager or individual contributor
  • Experience working in a geographically distributed engineering organization
  • Thrive with a high level of self-direction, autonomy and responsibility
  • Confident and know how to deal with ambiguities
  • Enjoy working in an iterative development environment
  • Work well with technical and non-technical people to deliver high-value results.
  • Are a great communicator and communication facilitator
  • Strong experience setting strategy, producing well documented and analyzed project plans, and delivering on program objectives

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in Product Security or related positions
  • 3-5+ years in a leadership or management role

Below is the annual salary range for candidates located in Canada. Your actual salary will depend on factors such as your skills, qualifications, and experience. In addition, Okta offers equity (where applicable), bonus, and benefits, including health, dental, and vision insurance, RRSP with a match, healthcare spending, telemedicine, and paid leave (including PTO and parental leave) in accordance with our applicable plans and policies. The annual base salary range for this position for candidates located in Canada is between:$186,000$278,000 CAD
