Jim Molle: Hello there. My name is Jim Molle. I am a senior technical instructor here at Okta.

Chris Berry: My name is Chris Berry, I'm a principle technical instructor at Okta.

Jim Molle: So Chris, I've heard a lot about SCIM. Can you tell us a little bit about Okta's automate lifecycle management with SCIM course?

Chris Berry: Yeah, it's a one day course for developers. It's about utilizing SCIM to automate lifecycle management to your own applications with Okta.

Jim Molle: Okay, so what exactly is SCIM and how can it be used to facilitate? Okta's lifecycle management.

Chris Berry: SCIM stands for the system for cross domain identity management. It's an IETS specification for sending instructions to endpoint point applications for user and group provisioning and also membership to those inputs.

Jim Molle: Okay, so I'm a customer or a partner and I attend this course, what am I going to be able to do once I'm done?

Chris Berry: Well it's a hands on training class, so what we're going to do is we're going to build a SCIM server in the class and integrate it with Okta. We're also going to go in and configure Okta for features like profile mastering, automating, provisioning via the create user and update user, and also deep revisioning via the deactivate user operation. And then finally we're going to show you how to deploy your application either to the opt-in integration network or into your production environment.

Jim Molle: All right, excellent. What about target audience? Who should be attending this course? The target audience is going to be a couple of different groups, primarily.

Chris Berry: The first are our ISVs, the partners who publish integrations in the Okta integration network. Utilizing SCIM, you're going to be able to automate lifecycle management for your customers. The second audience is our customers. So those customers are already utilizing Okta lifecycle management to automate the provisioning and deprovisioning to commercial applications. What they're going to be able to do with SCIM is to extend that to their own internal applications to leverage more of their investment in Okta lifecycle management.

Chris Berry: And then finally from a role standpoint, even though the class is primarily targeted towards developers, it's also well-attended by and useful to people like project managers and architects. Anyone who's involved with these implementations.

Jim Molle: All right, well that is a most excellent overview. Thank you for that. Any closing words?

Chris Berry: I'd love to see you in class. You can head out to okta.com. Click on services and then hands on training and you can sign up there and I'd love to see you in class. Thanks a lot.
