Okta + ServiceNow: Helping Companies Improve Security Incident Response

It takes organizations an average of 66 days to contain a breach, according to the Ponemon Institute.  Even for the most forward-thinking companies, manual processes and silos between security and IT teams are making it difficult for security teams to keep up with alerts and resolve security incidents and vulnerabilities.

We recently announced the next wave of our integration with ServiceNow to help organizations drastically shorten the time they are exposed to user-related risk. Organizations such as Broadcom Limited, a leading designer, developer and global supplier of a broad range of analog and digital semiconductor connectivity solutions, are already leveraging Okta and ServiceNow to secure and manage their extended enterprise, and ultimately help their people work better. This new integration between the Okta Identity Cloud and ServiceNow Security Operations will bring that same ease and workflow functionality to security ops – enabling IT and security teams to better assess the scope and scale of a security incident and take immediate action against an affected user.

Okta’s identity data feed eliminates inefficient security incident response, by allowing organizations to view user identity context and manage security incidents without leaving the ServiceNow platform. The Okta Identity Cloud for Security Operations app automatically summarizes user behavior for an active incident, looking at recent logins, which applications that user can access, and group memberships. It also speeds up resolution time by providing actionable user controls. For example, if a security team notices suspicious user behavior, they can clear sessions, expire passwords or activate multi-factor authentication for a specific user with the click of a button.

Frederic Kerrest is the COO and co-founder of Okta. He’s responsible for our day-to-day operations, working with employees, partners and customers to deliver on the company’s mission of leveraging technology to make companies more productive and secure.

Prior to Okta, Frederic worked at Hummer Winblad Venture Partners. He also started and built the Latin America sales organization at Salesforce.com. Frederic currently serves as a mentor at the MIT Trust Center for Entrepreneurship and the Stanford StartX Accelerator program and a member of the Board of Trustees of The Ocean School in Los Angeles, CA.
