Furthering Okta’s Partnership with VMware

Okta is on a mission to enable organizations of all sizes to easily and securely take advantage of all technologies. As members of the modern workforce, employees not only want to enjoy the flexibility of using a wide range of applications, tools and devices to do their work – they need to in order to be successful. As organizations work to empower their employees, their IT teams require trusted identity and access management that provide security and a good user experience.

I had the privilege to be at VMware in the early days, when “virtualization” was an unknown term and “cloud” was only used in weather forecasts, and there are several parallels between Okta and VMware’s early years. VMware created and has lead the virtualization category, just as Okta has done the same with Identity and Access Management over the past ten years. Just as early datacenter administrators said running two virtual servers in a physical server wouldn’t work, in the formative years of Okta we were told no one would ever want to have their corporate access via the cloud.

Earlier this year at Oktane18, Okta and VMware joined forces to launch a strategic partnership that will help more organizations leverage the cloud and existing technology investments while simplifying IT management. Today, we’re taking that partnership another step forward with the availability of two new promotional offers through channel partners.

Okta for VMware Workspace ONE Advanced will provide VMware Workspace ONE Advanced customers with Okta’s advanced identity solutions including:

  • Universal Directory;
  • Device trust;
  • Single Sign-On across the Okta Integration Network; and
  • Advanced Multi-Factor Authentication across cloud apps.

Okta for VMware Workspace ONE Enterprise will provide VMware Workspace ONE Enterprise customers with Okta’s advanced identity solutions including:

  • Universal Directory;
  • Device trust;
  • Single Sign-On across the Okta Integration Network;
  • Advanced Multi-Factor Authentication across cloud apps; and
  • Lifecycle Management and automated provisioning and de-provisioning to HR systems.

Okta and VMware will continue to expand on initial integrations to to help our joint customers solve some of their most intractable problems spanning security, user lifecycle management, and administrative experience. As the leaders in identity and device management, Okta and VMware bring innovation technologies together to enable customers to benefit from improved choice and flexibility as they provide employees with a central, secure hub to access all the apps, services, and devices for digital workspace success. And the timing of this is key, as Okta recently announced our new partner program to enable those strategic partners of the VMware ecosystem to become partners of Okta, to help extend how Workspace ONE and the Okta Identity Cloud are able to provide the digital workspace for any app on any device with the user at the core.
