The Opportunity Okta is seeking a visionary and results-driven Vice President, Data Analytics to lead our global data analytics and engineering teams. Reporting to the SVP of Technology, Data, and Intelligence, this role is a mission-critical leadership position responsible for defining and executing a data strategy that fuels Okta's growth, customer success, and operational excellence. You will be a key partner to executive leaders across the organization, including GTM Tech, GTM Ops, Product and Engineering, our Business Applications and AI Engineering teams, and Security, ensuring our data assets are leveraged to their full potential.
This role requires a leader who is as comfortable with a technical deep dive as they are with a strategic business discussion. You will be a "player-coach" who can build and mentor a world-class team while personally driving strategic initiatives and ensuring the integrity of our data foundation. A core part of your responsibility will be to champion and enable our AI strategy and technical foundations, ensuring that clean, trusted, and well-governed data is the foundation for all AI initiatives. You will also be a champion for the data user, focused on building a self-service data platform that empowers all Okta employees to make data-driven decisions with confidence.
What You'll Do
- Lead and Inspire a High-Performing Team: Build, mentor, and scale a diverse, high-performing team of data analysts, data scientists, and data and analytics engineers, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning.
- Define and Execute the Data Strategy: Architect a clear, scalable data strategy that aligns with Okta’s business goals and product roadmap. Ensure the right data architecture, tools, and processes are in place to deliver trusted, high-quality data at scale.
- Champion AI Enablement: Act as a critical partner to the Business Applications and AI Engineering teams. Ensure our data and data infrastructure and practices are optimized to support and accelerate AI development and deployment. This includes defining data governance standards, building high-quality training datasets, and developing scalable data pipelines for AI/ML models, and building AI data products for all Okta employees
- Drive Data-Driven Decision-Making: Partner with senior leaders across GTM Tech, GTM Ops, and Security to identify and deliver actionable insights that inform key business decisions, optimize performance, and unlock new opportunities.
- Advance the Data Foundation: Own the end-to-end data lifecycle for critical business domains, from data ingestion and ETL/ELT pipelines to data modeling, quality assurance, and governance. Ensure a single source of truth for key metrics across the organization.
- Enhance Data Security and Governance: Partner with Security leaders to define and implement policies and systems to safeguard data privacy, ensure regulatory compliance, and protect sensitive information. This includes establishing robust data access controls, audit trails, and data retention policies.
- Enable Self-Service and User Experience: Drive the development of a self-service data platform that empowers business users with easy-to-use tools and intuitive dashboards. Focus on the end-to-end user experience, from data discovery to insight generation, to ensure our data is not just available but also accessible and understandable to all.
- Partner Cross-Functionally: Collaborate closely with technology and business partners, including Product and Engineering leadership, to embed data and analytics into product development, financial forecasting, go-to-market strategies, and security operations.
- Cultivate a Data Culture: Promote data literacy and a culture of curiosity and ownership across the company. Make data more accessible, trustworthy, and actionable for stakeholders at all levels.
What You Bring
- Experience: 12+ years of progressive experience in data analytics, data science, and data engineering, with at least 5+ years in a senior leadership role.
- Strategic Leadership: Proven ability to define, communicate, and execute a data vision that drives measurable business outcomes.
- AI Acumen: Demonstrated experience in building data foundations and pipelines specifically to support and accelerate AI and machine learning initiatives.
- Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of modern data stacks, including data warehousing, ETL/ELT pipelines, data modeling, and Tableau. Proficiency with Python, SQL, and experience with cloud-based data environments that enable AI use-cases (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure).
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Exceptional ability to translate business needs into technical requirements and communicate complex data concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Team Development: A track record of successfully hiring, mentoring, and leading high-performing data teams.
Problem-Solving: A strategic mindset and a passion for solving ambiguous, complex business problems with a rigorous, data-driven approach.

Below is the annual base salary range for candidates located in California. Your actual base salary will depend on factors such as your skills, qualifications, experience, and work location. In addition, Okta offers equity (where applicable), bonus, and benefits, including health, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), flexible spending account, and paid leave (including PTO and parental leave) in accordance with our applicable plans and policies. The annual base salary range for this position for candidates located in the San Francisco Bay area is between: $309,000—$463,000 USDWhat you can look forward to as a Full-Time Okta employee!
