We seek an experienced Staff Software Engineer in Test to join our Identity Management Engineering (IDM) team. This team is passionate about delivering large-scale, mission-critical software in a fast-paced Agile environment. In this role, you'll work with a team of highly skilled and talented engineers responsible for delivering sophisticated backend solutions that enable Okta to reliably operate on a large scale and maintain high availability. As part of the team, you’ll ensure that projects are completed with the highest quality and reliability, utilising automation at every level to achieve fast, robust, and secure releases.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a team of SETs, driving quality initiatives, automation excellence, and professional growth.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to review requirements, define test strategies, and ensure seamless, high-quality releases.
- Design, implement, and maintain automated tests for APIs, end-to-end workflows, scalability, and reliability.
- Leverage Generative AI tools and frameworks to enhance productivity, accelerate test development, and improve overall engineering efficiency.
- Conduct code reviews, identify defects, and build tools to strengthen test coverage and product stability.
- Partner with engineering management to plan, prioritise, and deliver high-impact projects with zero-debt quality cadence.
- Participate in on-call rotations to effectively address production and customer issues.
- Champion a quality-first culture and act as a strong advocate for customer experience and continuous improvement.
Requirements:
- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in software engineering (or related)
- 10–15 years of experience as a Software Engineer in Test (SET), preferably within enterprise SaaS or product-based companies.
- Proven expertise in quality engineering for large-scale, enterprise-grade software systems.
- Strong hands-on experience in Java-based test automation and Web/API/Performance testing.
- Proficiency with automation and monitoring tools such as Selenium, TestCafe, Rest Assured, Karate, Postman, JMeter, Splunk, and AWS.
- Skilled in test planning, strategy, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Experience with distributed systems and CI/CD pipelines in modern development environments.
- Ability to write, review, and deliver high-quality, well-designed code in a timely manner.
Nice to have:
- Experience with Office 365, Google Workspace, Salesforce, and Active Directory/LDAP integrations.
- Exposure to Generative AI or AI-driven testing tools to improve automation efficiency and test coverage.
