Okta Named the Sole Leader in Gartner Magic Quadrant for IDaaS

Industry Recognition Underscores Identity as Core to the Connected World Amid Okta’s Market Momentum

San Francisco, California —June 8, 2015— Leading analyst firm, Gartner Inc., has positioned Okta as the sole leader in its Magic Quadrant for Identity and Access Management as a Service (IDaaS), and a leader for the second consecutive year. The report was authored by Gartner Research VP, Gregg Kreizman, and was published on June 4. In the last year, since Gartner published its inaugural 2014 IDaaS Magic Quadrant, Okta has doubled in both customers and revenue. “In just a few years, IDaaS has gone mainstream. It’s now transforming other industries, powering external portals and SaaS applications, and disrupting industries like enterprise mobility management,” said Todd McKinnon, CEO and co-founder at Okta. “The rapid and impressive innovation we’re seeing in the identity market has massive implications for the future of the connected world, which Gartner highlights in its second annual IDaaS Magic Quadrant.

“As enterprises adopt cloud services that are consumed from mobile devices, and as every company pursues a digitization of their business, it’s now clear that identity is a critical component of a modern IT infrastructure," said Ryan Carlson, vice president of marketing at Okta. “We believe that Gartner’s recognition of Okta as the only leader in the ‘Magic Quadrant for Identity and Access Management as a Service’ is a testament to our early insight into the market, leadership in the convergence of identity and mobility, and the partnerships we’ve built with thousands of customers worldwide.”

The recognition comes on the heels of continued fiscal growth for the company and expansion into a new market with its mobility management product. In the past six months, Okta has added distinguished companies to its customer list, including DISH Networks, MassMutual, and international companies, Sophos, REA Group, Bakers Delight and Nova. Okta has also grown to 500 employees, with expansion across Europe and Australia, and new offices in Seattle and Amsterdam.

“We spent the past year innovating around Okta’s core identity service to accelerate the adoption of cloud and mobile in the enterprise. We’ve opened our platform to help companies manage customer and partner identities, and rapidly build enterprise-grade SaaS applications. And, most recently, we’ve disrupted an entirely new market by leveraging our IDaaS core to offer a user-centric approach to enterprise mobility management,” said Todd McKinnon. “Our progress as a company has been driven by and in service to our customers. They are on this journey with us, and they play a significant role in turning our vision into reality. With this report, we believe that Gartner is validating Okta’s proven ability to move our customers’ businesses forward, as well as the vision that we share with our customers to securely connect any combination of people, apps, devices, and organizations.”
