Partnering with Atlassian to Drive Cloud Adoption and Customer Success

Senior Vice President of Corporate Development

Today, technology and consumer expectations are evolving faster than organizations can adapt. We’ve entered an era of Digital Darwinism: since 2000, 52% of companies in the Fortune 500 have either gone bankrupt, been acquired, or ceased to exist as a result of digital disruption, making today’s organizations feel the pressure to “adapt or die.”

Those that are adapting are doing so by adopting cloud apps, innovating and becoming technology companies. Okta’s 2019 Digital Enterprise Report revealed that out of 1,000 IT, security, and engineering decision makers, half were well on their way to becoming digital businesses; either beginning to formalize a plan, or already working on executing against a formal strategy to digitize their business and technology.

At Okta, we’re dedicated to empowering businesses to thrive in today's constantly changing environment by enabling any organization to adopt any technology. That’s why we’re excited to announce our partnership with Atlassian, aimed at accelerating the world’s largest organizations’ move to the cloud. We’re integrating Okta’s authentication technology into Atlassian cloud products so that Atlassian’s customers can provide their workforces with secure access to the technologies they need to be productive, and ultimately, more successful. With the Okta Identity Cloud embedded into Atlassian, we’re bridging the gap between an organization’s on-premises and cloud applications, and providing organizations with an additional layer of protection with MFA, so organizations of any size can seamlessly and securely navigate their hybrid IT environments throughout their transition.

Atlassian's initial launch was with on-premises offerings, but today more than 90% of Atlassian’s new customers are choosing a cloud product. And with thousands of Okta customers already using Atlassian products to collaborate and improve productivity, this partnership was a natural next step as we continue to support organizations through their digital transformations.

But while empowering organizations to move to the cloud is a key benefit of our partnership with Atlassian, their customers will also benefit from increased productivity and innovation, without having to worry about negatively impacting the user experience. With the Okta Identity Cloud integrated into Atlassian cloud products, users have secure, single sign-on to Atlassian Access, enabling end users to be more productive by removing the need to individually sign in to various applications. Not only are the end users’ experience made simple through this integration, IT is also able to save valuable time with automated provisioning and deprovisioning.

Finally, Atlassian customers can now easily implement and integrate with additional best-of-breed applications, leveraging the Okta Integration Network’s over 6,000 pre-built integrations to applications and infrastructure providers.

We’re excited to partner with Atlassian to provide their customers with the platform to power their digital transformations while improving productivity in their organizations.
