Job Description
Okta is looking for a Strategic AI Initiatives Senior Manager to join our AI Strategy team. As Okta accelerates its use of generative AI, this role will own the 0-to-1 incubation of transformative GenAI initiatives that cross team boundaries and require centralized ownership to succeed. The Strategic AI Initiatives Senior Manager will identify, scope, validate, and execute a portfolio of high-impact agentic use cases that fundamentally shift how Okta operates.
You will act as the driver and business owner for unowned, high-value AI products — from sourcing opportunities to piloting solutions and scaling those that deliver measurable impact. Our ideal candidate has a builder’s mentality, thrives in ambiguity, and brings a product-oriented approach to incubation, iteration, and stakeholder alignment.
This role reports to the VP of AI Strategy.
What you’ll be doing
- Act as business owner for cross-functional, high-impact AI products that lack a clear organizational home
- Source problems across Okta where GenAI can deliver a 10x unlock, and translate them into scoped opportunities
- Lead incubation cycles in partnership with centralized Technology team: pilot, test, fail fast, and scale successful prototypes into enterprise-ready solutions
- Codify learnings into frameworks and playbooks that accelerate future initiatives
- Run cross-functional steering and alignment processes for select initiatives, securing buy-in from relevant teams
- Partner with technical and operational teams to ensure pilots are grounded in enterprise requirements and real user needs
What you’ll bring to the role
- 5-8+ years of experience, ideally in business operations, innovation, strategy and/or product management roles
- Proven track record incubating new functions, initiatives, or products from scratch in high-ambiguity environments
- Builder’s mindset: scrappy, action-oriented, and comfortable iterating quickly without perfect plans
- Product management skill set: can define success metrics, scope MVPs, manage pilots, and think like a product manager even if not formally in PM roles
- Strong cross-functional leadership skills: experienced in aligning multiple teams with competing priorities, working with executive sponsors to push through blockers, and securing sign-off across functions
- Enterprise context awareness: familiarity with navigating large organizations and working across domains like GTM, G&A, Security, and Product
- Strategic radar: ability to identify the 2–3 moonshots that truly move the business, not just the 10 interesting experiments
