Presales “Distinguished Strategic Advisor, Office of the Field CTO” Opportunity

We are seeking a Distinguished Strategic Advisor, a senior field-facing leadership role designed for someone who thrives in complex, high-impact customer engagements and has the credibility to work as a peer to CISOs, CIOs, and Chief Architects.

You’ll serve as a technical and strategic advisor to Okta’s most important customers, our key strategic Partners and alongside our VP/SVP for the region. You’ll guide enterprise identity strategies, evangelize best practices, and influence product direction through direct customer feedback and regional insight. Your ability to connect architecture with business outcomes will help customers de-risk transformation and accelerate innovation using identity as the foundation.

What you’ll be doing 
  1. Strategic Customer Engagement:
  • Act as a technical executive sponsor for a portfolio of strategic accounts, with deep involvement in roadmap alignment and solution planning
  • Help customers align identity strategy to transformation initiatives like Zero Trust, hybrid cloud, workforce modernization, and digital trust
  • Drive influence by shaping identity vision across the full stakeholder spectrum, from IT to security to business
  • Technical Leadership:
    • Guide the design of modern identity architectures, integrations, and risk-based approaches to access control
    • Translate product capabilities into clear, actionable technical strategies that fit customer maturity and architecture constraints
    • Provide hands-on architectural guidance and lead deep technical conversations on implementation trade-offs, scalability, and integration

    Partner Ecosystem Engagement

      • Shape and execute the technical partner strategy in collaboration with regionally identified key global systems integrators (GSIs), regional delivery partners, and technology alliances to accelerate identity-led transformation at scale
      • Serve as a strategic advisor to partner CTOs and senior architects, driving alignment with Okta’s long-term platform vision, technical roadmap, and architectural best practices
      • Influence and co-develop joint solution offerings that expand Okta’s value in market, supporting scalable, repeatable outcomes across key verticals and transformation programs
      • Champion partner-led innovation by bringing strategic partner feedback into product, solution engineering, and partner enablement teams to evolve integrations, tools, and go-to-market models
    1. Field Enablement and Collaboration:
      • Partner with Regional GMs & VPs to provide technical oversight on high-complexity deals
      • Partner with sales leadership to identify and address critical business opportunities and challenges.
      • Drive cross-functional collaboration to ensure seamless execution of global initiatives.
      • Innovate in tools and techniques to drive excellence and momentum
    2. Market Influence:
      • Represent Okta in analysts, press, customer briefings, executive meetings, and technical forums across industry verticals
      • Provide thought leadership on identity modernization and enterprise architecture through blogs, keynote sessions, and industry standards through participating in relevant technical advisory boards(eg. CSA Zero Trust Councils, AISA advisory groups, Singapore Cybersecurity Consortium quarterly forums, Japan Network Security Association working groups & Data Security Council of India task forces)
      • Share regional learnings and customer patterns to inform cross-functional strategy across Product, Marketing, and Sales
    3. Innovation and Strategy:
      • Identify and incubate repeatable solution patterns that can scale across segments and regions
      • Serve as a key technical voice in defining how Okta’s platform evolves to support complex enterprise environments
      • Participate in product ideation, beta programs, and strategic roadmap conversations with Product and Engineering

      What you’ll bring to the role

      • 15+ years of experience in Identity and Access Management roles, including Solutions Engineering, Enterprise Architecture, Cybersecurity, or related fields.
      • Deep expertise in identity, security, cloud computing, and digital transformation.
      • Ability to influence both technical and executive stakeholders across sales cycles and long-term transformation programs
      • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with experience contributing to technical events.
      • Strong understanding of market trends, competitive landscape, and enterprise customer needs.
      • Ability to effectively operate in a matrixed organization and manage cross-functional initiatives.
      • Passion for innovation, customer success, and advancing the field of identity.

      Preferred Qualifications:

      • Former Enterprise Architect, Identity Strategist, or Principal Security Architect or similar field engineering leadership role
      • Background in implementing or scaling IAM, identity governance, or security platforms
      • Experience with CIAM, DevSecOps, or AI-related access risk models
      • Familiarity with identity challenges in regulated industries such as finance, healthcare, or government
      • Experience working with or within Global 2000 Enterprises.
      • Public speaking or published work related to security architecture or identity strategy
      • Proficiency in one or more APJ regional languages (e.g. Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, Bahasa, or Hindi) is a strong advantage, particularly for engaging with local stakeholders in-country
      • Understanding of APJ-specific regulatory and compliance frameworks (such as Japan FISC, ISMAP, MAS TRM, IRAP, PDPA, Korea’s ISMS or RBI guidelines)
