Okta, Inc., a leading independent identity provider, has been recognized as a Representative Vendor in full-suite vendors in the 2026 Gartner® Market Guide for Identity Governance and Administration (IGA). This recognition highlights Okta's identity offerings—including Lifecycle Management and Okta Identity Governance (OIG)—and, in our view, affirms OIG's position as a scalable, unified, enterprise-grade solution for complex organizational environments.

As organizations navigate cloud migration, sprawling identity landscapes, and the rapid adoption of AI, we believe Okta’s inclusion in the Market Guide for full-featured IGA platforms demonstrates that cloud-native identity governance can deliver deep, enterprise-grade capabilities.

This recognition aligns with Okta’s broader vision of an agentic control plane and a unified identity security fabric that seamlessly integrates governance across human, non-human, and AI agent identities.

"Being recognized by Gartner as a Representative Vendor in full-suite vendors in the IGA category is a major milestone for Okta," says Ric Smith, Okta’s President of Products and Technology. "Okta Identity Governance proves that enterprise security teams don't have to choose complex, legacy IGA solutions to secure their organizations. OIG delivers the continuous governance, enterprise scale, and AI-driven automation required by the world's largest organizations."

Okta’s key takeaways from the Market Guide

Gartner stresses that the scale and complexity of AI require security leaders to rethink identity governance strategies to effectively capitalize on emerging opportunities and head off new risks.

Here are Okta’s key takeaways from the Market Guide:

  • Invest in an identity fabric: Gartner recommends a unified identity fabric “that seamlessly integrates IGA with adjacent domains to provide continuous, end-to-end visibility and governance over all identities and permissions.” Okta has extended that fabric to non-human and privileged workloads with new features such as Access Certifications for Service Accounts.

  • Prioritize unified governance for all identity types: Gartner advises selecting “IGA platforms offering unified governance of all identity types and seamless integration across cloud, on-premises, and hybrid environments.” Okta extends lifecycle management and governance capabilities to legacy infrastructure with out-of-the-box integrations such as the On-Premises Connector for Generic Databases.

  • Implement AI runtime controls: Instead of relying on a loosely phased approach of generic guardrails for AI, the report says that cybersecurity leaders must get specific now about implementing precise AI runtime controls. Okta provides this in recent feature releases, including Resource Access Certifications for AI Agents, which allows security teams to audit and restrict AI agent privileges.

  • Select an AI-enabled IGA platform: Gartner notes that as regulations and threats increase, AI-powered IGA platforms are becoming essential for managing and protecting all types of identities. Okta advances this through product innovations such as Governance Analyzer (now generally available), an AI capability that provides real-time risk insights and access recommendations to stop privilege creep.

We believe this recognition underscores Okta's commitment to delivering a unified identity platform. Organizations like Modern Treasury and Juniper Square rely on OIG to secure their human workforce today, while simultaneously building the critical infrastructure needed to govern the rapidly growing non-human workforce of the future. Identity governance must evolve to keep pace, and Okta is already laying the groundwork for this next era.

Built for the modern enterprise

Traditional identity governance has long been defined by multi-year deployment cycles, heavy technical debt, and friction for admins and end users. OIG replaces that complexity with a unified, cloud-native foundation that accelerates business operations while maintaining strict least-privilege security.

By providing the leading unified identity security fabric, automating access management for both human and non-human identities, and applying AI-enabled risk intelligence, Okta transforms governance from a legacy compliance bottleneck into a powerful business accelerator.
