Okta is pleased to announce the appointment of Dan Mountstephen as its new Senior Vice President and General Manager for the Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ) region. A highly experienced technology executive, Mountstephen will lead Okta’s next phase of growth across APJ, helping the company deepen its relationships with the region’s largest enterprises and government agencies.
In his new role, Mountstephen will lead regional strategy, scale go-to-market operations, and expand partner-led growth to create long-term customer value. He will work closely with teams across APJ to ensure Okta’s platforms continue to protect every identity, helping organizations navigate today’s complex cybersecurity landscape.
“With his focus on go-to-market and partner-led scale, Dan is well positioned to lead the expansion of Okta’s footprint across APJ as we become the number one identity layer for the region’s largest organizations,” said Jon Addison, Okta’s Chief Revenue Officer. “Dan’s leadership will be critical as we continue to grow in the region and support organizations in securing every identity at this pivotal time.”
Mountstephen joins Okta after his most recent role as Senior Vice President and General Manager, APJ, at Saviynt, where he led rapid expansion in identity governance and administration. He brings more than 20 years of experience in technology and cybersecurity, including senior leadership positions in enterprise software and identity security. His extensive background includes roles at Centrify, where he helped guide its merger to form Delinea, as well as leadership positions at Cisco Systems, Motorola, and Siemens.
“I’m excited to join Okta at a time when identity has become the control plane for security, transformation, and the AI era,” Dan said. “I’ve spent the last seven years working deep in the identity category, so I’ve seen firsthand how much the right strategy and execution can change outcomes for customers.”
Widely recognized as a leader who values culture, Dan is passionate about cultivating authenticity and fostering a shared vision, a focus that has helped him build high-performing teams. “I’m a coach first,” said Mountstephen. “I care deeply about building an environment where high standards and high support go hand in hand. It’s as much about how we win as what we win, and that’s through AAA talent and real execution discipline.”
Dan will officially join the team on February 2. Originally from the UK, Dan is now based in Singapore. He will report directly to Chief Revenue Officer Jon Addison.
