Okta Heralds Age of User-Centric IT at European Cloud Summit

Cloud-Based Identity Management Leader Celebrates European One-Year Anniversary at #EUCloudSummit, Announces 60+ New Customers

23rd September 2014, London, UK – Okta today hosts the European Cloud Summit (#EUCloudSummit) in London. The event attended by 100+ IT decision makers brings together Europe’s leading technology thinkers and most successful implementers of cloud-based IT strategies. The company also celebrated its one-year anniversary in Europe, announcing new customers since opening its European headquarters last September.

“Cloud has fundamentally changed the way we work and how companies engage with their employees. Today’s worker expects leaders to deliver technology that makes them better, faster and smarter. They are already inspired by the technology they use every day in their personal lives and need IT to empower them at work,” said Phil Turner, senior VP of EMEA, Okta. “For business leaders and cloud vendors, it’s about connecting people, information and knowledge in real time, and across multiple mobile devices through user-centric IT – but with security and transparency still at the core of all interactions. That’s why we’ll be looking to not only discuss the implications of the latest cloud, mobile and enterprise IT trends, but also showcase some best practices on bringing user-centric IT to life at our cloud summit.”

The overriding theme for today’s event is the shift to user-centric IT and the impact that cloud and service-based technologies have had in enabling this change. The two main panels, moderated by Chuck Fontana, Okta’s VP of corporate and business development, will explore how both service providers and customers are making this a reality in their organisations. The first panel will be composed of cloud vendors and partners who will discuss the evolving role of IT, key areas of concern around BYOD and the cloud, as well as the next big things on the horizon for cloud and SaaS applications. The second will consist of Okta customers, sharing their experiences in moving to the cloud, challenges encountered and how they’ve incorporated the principles of user-centric IT into their organisations.

Panelists Include:

David Quantrell, SVP EMEA, Box Chris Cesio, VP of business development and channels, Skyhigh Networks Glenn Weinstein, CIO, Appirio Dario Bezzina, senior solution advisor, Jive

Michael Ibbitson, CIO, Gatwick Airport Lee Cunningham, solution architect, Xchanging Richard Godfrey, ICT strategy, infrastructure and programme manager, Peterborough City Council Alistair Roberts, head of IT, M&C Saatchi

Okta Announces Significant Traction in First Year in Europe The European Cloud Summit also coincides with the first anniversary of Okta’s launch into the European market. Turner was appointed to lead the business in Europe, starting in the UK, in September 2013, and has played an instrumental role in the growth of the business.

“It’s been a phenomenal first year for Okta in Europe. We set out 12 months ago with an aggressive growth plan — which we’re delivering against furiously. We’ve built a strong UK sales and marketing team and we are seeing the fruits of our labour in the high calibre customers and partners participating in today’s event. We are now well placed to begin the expansion into other European regions, such as Benelux and the Nordics,” said Turner.
