SAN FRANCISCO — November 17, 2017 — Okta, Inc. (NASDAQ:OKTA), the leading independent provider of identity for the enterprise, today announced that the company has been named a Leader in The Forrester Wave™: Identity-As-A-Service, Q4 2017,* a report published by Forrester Research, Inc. The report evaluates seven Identity-as-a-Service (IDaaS) vendors across strategy, market presence and current offering, and Okta was positioned as a Leader, earning the highest ranking in both the “current offering” and “strategy” categories. The research was authored by Andras Cser and Merritt Maxim on November 17, 2017. A complimentary version of the report can be found here.
Forrester’s ranking follows a history of steady industry recognition for Okta. In June 2017, Gartner Inc. named Okta a Leader in its inaugural Magic Quadrant for Access Management, Worldwide.** Okta was recognized with this placement after maintaining its position as the only company to appear in the Leaders quadrant of Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for Identity and Access Management as a Service, Worldwide*** report for three consecutive years. Gartner retired the IDaaS Magic Quadrant, which evaluated only cloud-based offerings, and the new Magic Quadrant for Access Management, Worldwide includes both on-premises and cloud-delivered solutions.
“We see our placements as a clear result of our industry-leading product offering and commitment to innovation,” said Eric Berg, Chief Product Officer. “Organizations turn to the Okta Identity Cloud to manage and secure their extended enterprises and transform their customer experiences. We provide the mission-critical identity layer needed to securely connect their employees, partners and customers to technology. We’re continuing to innovate, and we’re dedicated to continuing to deliver products and services that lead the way in identity and access management.”
In the Forrester report, Okta earned the highest possible score a majority of the evaluation criteria, including “Access management policy administration,” “Breadth of Security Certifications” and “Future overall development and market plans for IDaas and Technology.” The report further describes Okta's solution: “Okta offers a comprehensive IDaaS platform with provisioning and API management. The meta-directory design of the solution offers comprehensive directory management, access policy administration, and easy-to-use schema mapping between its cloud directory and endpoints.”
Okta’s placement as a Leader in Forrester’s IDaaS Wave comes amid continued momentum for the company, including global expansion with new offices in Toronto and Sydney, a new Chief Security Officer, a new General Manager of EMEA, and sustained product updates and innovation. At Oktane17 in August, Okta unveiled enhancements to its Adaptive Multi-Factor Authentication and Universal Directory offerings, and introduced expanded APIs, new developer product capabilities and a new Developer Edition for customer identity.
