For many institutions of higher education, research is at the heart of the school’s mission. Usually, projects are funded through research grants to individual researchers and their labs. However, sometimes there are infrastructure needs that go well beyond single projects. Meeting these needs helps the institution’s research move forward, allows for opportunities to train up future researchers, and aids in recruiting new researchers to join the school.
