Okta ‘App of the Week’: DocuSign – Saving Trees with the Cloud-Based e-Signature

One aspect of cloud computing that we don’t always talk about on this blog is the cloud’s huge environmental benefit. This week we’d like to highlight DocuSign – a member of the Okta Cloud Application Network that is, literally, saving trees.

DocuSign is a cloud-based e-signature service that helps businesses go truly paperless, seamlessly replacing manual paper-based methods for increased productivity and cost reduction. To date, DocuSign has processed more than half a billion pages of contracts and legally binding documents, saving more than 60,000 trees. Wow. Additionally, they’ve also saved about $10 million in shipping costs alone.

Why It’s Cool: DocuSign pioneered the electronic signature service in 2003, and it’s so easy to use. According to the independent third-party measurement site Compete.com, 8 out of 10 electronic signatures in the cloud are DocuSigned. With 1,000s (and 1,000s) of apps out there, that is impressive. And with the free DocuSign Ink iPhone and iPad app, anyone can sign and return any document from an iPhone or iPad — all from the cloud!

In other news, DocuSign recently announced that the real estate and property management industries have standardized, choosing DocuSign as the trusted solution for electronic signatures. Congrats!
