How We are Expanding the Okta Integration Network to Improve Customer Experiences in a Digital-First World

Over the past year, organizations have been under immense pressure to optimize customer experiences to keep pace with an increasingly digital-first world. But going digital from a customer-facing perspective isn’t an easy feat. It’s challenging, requiring tight integration across a wide range of technologies and cross-collaboration from many teams — including product, marketing, privacy, security, and identity — that make up and power the customer journey.

Adding to this complexity is that each touchpoint and each team comes with its own set of integration requirements. That’s why it’s critical that identity owners and developers can integrate with minimal effort.

To make that a reality, we’re excited to announce that we are expanding the Okta Integration Network (OIN) to power new and improved use cases, including data orchestration and analytics, identity proofing, personalized commerce, risk assessment, infrastructure operations, and more.

Okta Integration Network

Okta is also launching Okta Workflows for Customer Identity, which includes codeless connectors for Marketo, OneTrust, SendGrid, AWS Lambda, Github, ServiceNow, Mixpanel, and more. This enables both technical and non-technical team members to improve the customer journey by automating across their entire customer identity technology stack. These new codeless connectors are pre-built integrations that expand who can build and influence digital experiences. You can find them in the updated Okta Integration Network Catalog and use them when you purchase Okta Workflows for Customer Identity.

Together, these announcements make the Okta Integration Network the most extensive in the market and the easiest way to make identity core to your business — ultimately improving security, developer operations, and the customer experience.

Expanding the Okta Integration Network

Customer Identity has become foundational in bringing together these toolsets to drive the best possible experience for customers. But a customer identity solution is only as good as how integrated it is. To stay competitive in today’s digital-first world, organizations must integrate identity into the end-to-end customer experience.

To address this, Okta is extending the power of the OIN with a new and improved suite of pre-built Customer Identity integrations to some of the most in-demand digital transformation tools on the market. Customers can choose to use these pre-built integrations, or they can expand our network by simply connecting to any publicly available API without code.

New and improved use cases include:

  • Data orchestration and analytics with providers such as Salesforce, Marketo, Hubspot, SendGrid, and Mixpanel
  • Identity proofing with pre-built integrations to Evident ID, Experian, Onfido, and Jumio
  • Risk assessment with bot detection and web application firewall providers such as Fastly, PerimeterX, and HUMAN
  • Infrastructure ops with providers such as HashiCorp Terraform — an extensible tool for defining and creating cloud infrastructure in a repeatable way through code — and Heroku, a cloud platform as a service solution for building and deploying applications

We’ve also updated the OIN Catalog to make integrations that fit into these categories more easily discoverable. Customer Identity customers and developers will immediately see categories that showcase Customer Identity-specific integrations, including analytics, automation, developer tools, and identity proofing.

These are searchable in the public catalog and from the Okta admin console. They’ll also find more documentation around setting up advanced integrations and detailed information about the capabilities of each Okta Workflows for Customer Identity connector.

The impact of flexible development models

The expanded OIN helps accelerate application development across the software development lifecycle by integrating across all the different tech stacks required to build and maintain customer experience through no-code and pro-code options.

Customers have a menu of ways to integrate and bring those use cases to life. Those who want to avoid writing code can easily use our out-of-the-box integrations in the Okta Integration Network. Alternatively, those who want the flexibility of code can use Okta Hooks to connect with downstream applications.

Developers can eliminate building integrations or custom scripting from their considerable to-do lists and offload the setup and maintenance of the integration to non-technical teams.  And Identity Admins can orchestrate customer data flows downstream and throughout marketing, privacy, and analytics systems.

Both can save time by reducing manual work, as well as have peace of mind that essential tasks aren’t falling through the cracks. What’s more, all of this can be managed at scale amid an explosion of technology solutions surrounding the customer experience.

With Okta, every organization can benefit from easier integration and automation — whether they choose to go pro-code or no-code is up to them.
