Position Description:

Okta is seeking an experienced accounting professional for the role of Manager, GL Accounting & AP/T&E to play a critical role in the oversight of our Shared Services capabilities and local Philippines entity compliance, as well as a complement to our existing team. Our ideal candidate will be a self-starter who has a focus on getting the numbers right along with a strong ethical bias. This candidate will have appropriate managerial and technical capabilities to provide confidence in their ability to drive improvements across the business as well as within the day-to-day operations of the accounting function.

 Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Effectively manage day-to-day operations for Record to Report (R2R), Accounts Payable (AP), & Travel & Expense (T&E) accounting functions in Shared Services
    • Manage full-cycle close processes for GL & AP/T&E for month-end, quarter-end, and year-end
    • Ensure all accounts are properly reconciled, reviewed, & reported in accordance to US GAAP
  • Analyze variances in financial statements, investigate discrepancies, and provide insights into the balance sheet flux
  • Manage weekly payment runs, globally
  • Oversee and assist with GAAP audits and financial reporting
    • Provide monthly reporting and analysis on key metrics (SLAs & KPIs) for respective areas of responsibility
    • Prepare annual 1099 filing
    • Ensure accurate VAT/GST tax reporting
  • Ensure SOX compliance and maintain internal controls for respective areas of responsibility by monitoring/updating accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
  • Collaborate with internal and external auditors during financial audits, ensuring audit compliance and audit findings are addressed
  • Partner with Legal, Tax, entity directors and outside advisors to manage local statutory compliance, registrations and reporting for Okta’s Philippines entity
  • Coach, mentor, and lead a team across multiple functions focused on high quality deliverables and fostering learning and development, open communication, collaboration, and teamwork
  • Drive and manage improvements and develop automation of daily/monthly standard tasks, accounting processes, and workflows
  • Flexibility to support the growing needs of the overall AP/T&E and GL departments
  • Perform/lead ad hoc projects, as needed

 

Required Skills / Desired Experience:

  • CA/CPA with 9+ years of accounting experience with increasing responsibility, preferably with public companies
    • 3-4+ years of experience managing a team
    • Previous experience in the technology industry is highly desired
    • Strong knowledge of of US GAAP required
  • Must possess the ability to multi-task and work in time-sensitive situations
  • High level of attention to detail, aptitude for planning/managing deadlines
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal communication (oral and written), organizational, and project planning skills
    • Must have the ability to effectively work and communicate with all levels/functions throughout the company
    • Should be customer-service driven and have a positive outlook
  • Experience managing teams across multiple accounting functions
    • Experience driving automation/system implementations is highly desired
    • Collaborative and team-oriented
  • Able to analyze sophisticated concepts, and make recommendations and decisions based upon good judgment
  • Knowledge of cloud related ERP systems & connected tools (ideally Netsuite, Coupa, and Workday Expenses, or similar) from end user and administrative perspective desired
