Frequently asked questions
Okta’s Workforce Identity solutions are sold as suites on a per-user, per-month basis and are billed annually. Our Starter Suite begins at $6 per user/month, and our Essentials Suite begins at $17 per user/month. For our Professional and Enterprise suites, we recommend contacting our sales team for a custom quote.
The right base suite depends on your goals. We recommend connecting with our team to better understand which suite aligns with your needs today and as you grow.
Yes. Almost all of our products can be purchased individually or added to any suite.
In most cases, you would add more suite licenses. Suites follow a unified model where all products share the same number of subscriptions, which keeps things simple and ensures consistent coverage. A few exceptions apply for Workflows, Okta Privileged Access, and Machine-to-Machine tokens.
Resource Units are how Privileged Access is licensed. They are a flexible way to secure your privileged identities (like Privileged Access admins) and various resources, such as servers, SaaS applications, and Active Directory accounts.
For example, the 1 Resource Unit included in the Essentials Suite can be used to cover 2 Privileged Access users. Users can use an unlimited number of secrets. “Secrets” are objects containing one or more key value pairs encrypted and stored securely within the Okta Privileged Access cloud service (e.g., passwords, API Keys, tokens, or any string value that needs protection).

Okta Customer Identity pricing starts with the required Enterprise base product at $3,000 per month, billed annually. Pricing for add-ons is based on usage, such as your total Monthly Active Users per year. For a detailed quote based on your expected usage, we recommend contacting our sales team.
Our Okta Integrator Free Plan has a default rate limit of 100 authentications per minute. Our paid plans start with a default rate limit of 600 authentications per minute, which can be significantly increased with the DynamicScale add-on.
No. The Customer Identity Enterprise platform and all add-ons require an annual contract.
Yes. The Okta Integrator Free Plan allows you to explore our platform capabilities in a non-production environment for up to 10 active users. The trial does not expire; however, orgs deactivate after 180 days of inactivity unless you submit an app to the OIN.
A Monthly Active User is a unique user that authenticates with or is authorized by the Okta service within a given month. A user who signs in multiple times during that month is only counted as one Monthly Active User for that month.
